Emily Wolfston is the Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Principled Consulting and brings two decades of diverse business and compliance expertise across various industries.

Emily’s main focus is legal, regulatory, and private accreditation compliance, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Administration (M.S.A.) from Central Michigan University, with an academic concentration in business and commercial organizational management, strategic operations, and compliance. She has also earned the prestigious Post-Graduate Certification in North American Healthcare and Life Sciences Law and Compliance from Seton Hall School of Law and will shortly complete the additional certification in Asia-Pacific Region compliance in the same field.  She has completed numerous additional post-graduate certifications in international trade, business, and law, with an emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. She has continued to build her skill set and knowledge base in international law, commercial transactions, and customs and trade regulation by completing a variety of courses and certificate programs from several professional associations and universities across the country.

Throughout her career, Emily has developed a strong foundation in legal and regulatory compliance, risk management, and administrative process development, evaluation, and  improvement. She began in pharmacy management, where she gained valuable insights into operational efficiency, personnel management, leadership, and regulatory adherence of many types inside and outside of the pharma industry. Transitioning into broader leadership roles, Emily applied her knowledge and skills to lead teams and projects in private healthcare practice administration, hospital administration, and multi-industry corporate operations, leadership, and compliance management.

She has served as a federal contractor for government agencies consulting with hundreds of small healthcare practices regarding their federal government quality reporting and compliance efforts, which further honed her skills in navigating complex regulatory landscapes.  She has also served as the Director of Compliance for a U.S.-based global healthcare and technology corporation with operations in four additional countries where she built comprehensive compliance programs from the ground up, and managed international compliance and fraud prevention under U.S., foreign, and international law.

Her experience was also advanced by serving as a compliance and investigation specialist at a major U.S. law firm where she aided and advised attorneys with audit evaluation and response, parallel and independent issue investigations, government investigation response, overall corporate and industry compliance issues, development of comprehensive compliance programs, licensing defense evaluation, and overall business administration, development, and compliance consulting.  She has also served as the primary testifying expert witness in a nation-wide class-action lawsuit with regard to the defendant corporation’s compliance with federal law and regulations and the damages resulting from those compliance failures.

Outside of her role as the CEO of Principled Consulting, Emily provides strategic business consulting, risk management, investigation, process optimization, and operational improvement services to Principled Consulting’s diverse client base. Like her business partner (see below), she has highly developed comprehensive compliance program development skills, ensuring that a client’s compliance extends to all relevant laws and regulations.  She also serves as an external Compliance Officer to some of the company’s most complex clients in a variety of commercial fields.  Her expertise in compliance, business administration, efficiency analysis, and organizational development helps clients achieve sustainable growth and operational excellence.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Emily is an avid and accomplished golfer. She is also a proud mother to a bright, busy eight-year-old boy and a couple of playful cats.
